The Band
Martin's Voice consists of:
- Allison Edworthy (bass & vocals)
- Alison plays bass guitar and does vocals for Martin.s Voice. Her musical background includes 10 years of piano, 3 years of percussion, 5 years of guitar and 3 years of bass guitar. She has also sung with a variety of choirs including VOLKSLIEDERCHOR HARMONIE and the Luther College Choir. She joined the Music Leadership Training group and was very excited when the opportunity arose to form Martin's Voice. She enjoys singing and playing with the group and loves spending time with her bandmates.
- Richard Kies (guitar & vocals)
- Richard plays guitar and does vocals for Martin's Voice. Coming from a musical family, his background includes years of singing in mixed-voice choirs and years of noodling on the guitar at home. He finally brought his guitar "out of the closet" for Pastor Dennis' original Music Leadership Training group, from which Martin's Voice eventually evolved. He enjoys performing and leading worship both within Christ Lutheran Church and for other congregations, and enjoys the camaraderie and fellowship of his bandmates.
- Paul Schmiedge (keyboards & lead vocals)
- Paul is a piano player with over 13 years of training. He brings a great knowledge of musical theory to the group, and has a gift for adapting to any musical style. His first opportunity to sing in public came when he joined Martin's Voice, and he has enjoyed making music with them since the very beginning.
- Brendan Russell (percussion)
- Brendan is a self taught improvisational player of idiophones and membranophones. He enjoys performing for God and the huge crowds that Martin's Voice draws. He also enjoys potluck suppers with the band.
- Zsófi Balogh (lead vocals)
- Zsófi has been singing since she was able to draw breath. As a recent transfer, she brings a Presbyterian perspective to an otherwise all-Lutheran band. She has a background in choral music, church choir and Jazz choir, and an artistic flair she applies to every performance. Martin's Voice represents an opportunity to sing that she has sorely missed over the years, and she feels very blessed to be a part of them.
- Chris Roberts (trumpet)
- Chris Roberts first picked up a trumpet at the age of nine, and took to it instantly. Martin's Voice has given him his first opportunity to play regularly since high school, and he is greatly enjoying the opportunity to worship through music.
