Our Faith

We believe as a church that all people need God in their lives, the God who is revealed in Jesus Christ. The church is God's gift to help us grow in our faith. The church is where the Word of God is proclaimed and the Sacraments are administered.
We Believe that the church is an essential part of the believer's life. It is a community that gathers to celebrate God's gifts to us in the context of the world in which we live. Worship and teaching, therefore, are at the heart of our congregational life.

Our Mission

Our mission is people. Jesus Christ came to minister to people. As followers of Jesus Christ our mission is both Christ centered and people centered. This mission includes our involvement in the community and at our jobs. Members are also involved in ministries to the sick, the homebound, the hungry and the elderly. Through various opportunities provided by the congregation and through contributions to the E.L.C.i.C., the members of Christ Lutheran reach out in love.

Our Church History

Way back in 1930 when Luther College was still in its infancy (1926) relocation from Melville), a number of people in the northwest corner of Regina, including the Luther principal and some teachers, decided to establish a mission congregation at the college, rather than to take the street car to the downtown Trinity Lutheran congregation on Ottawa street.

This small group of people (numbering about 30) organized as Christ Lutheran congregation and used the chapel at Luther as its meeting place. From that small beginning, in the German-English languages, with help from its own pastoral trained teachers, this congregation grew and prospered until now, when it has 1,710 baptized members, 1174 confirmed members, 489 families, plus many who call this their spiritual home although they have not become members.

Our Congregation

If you are searching for a church home we would like to invite you to join the fellowship of Christ Lutheran. We accept new members regularly throughout the year. The pastors also teaches a class on the basics of Lutheran faith for those joining the Lutheran church for the first time. If you are interested in joining us or would like more information about the church, please contact the church office at (306) 352-4832. Exciting things are happening here and we would like you to be part of it!

Pastors ( and tenure of office):

Church Building:

In 1949 the first Christ Lutheran church building, a white frame Cap Cod structure, was built and dedicated with the financial assistance of Home Mission Board of the American Lutheran Church. This building is now used by Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church at Lumsden Saskatchewan.
In 1963 the present steel and brick building was built and dedicated on January 26, 1964. Five years later the education centre was dedicated, on January 26, 1969. completing the L-shaped design.

The Brick Mosaic

These symbols were used by the Christian Church, from the 2nd Century, being associated with Rev. 4:6-7 and Ezek. 1:5-12

Mr. Hubert Garnier, sculptor, was commissioned by our architects to do the brick mosaic of the four Evangelists.

These wall Figures -- What do they mean?

St Matthew

St. Matthew is shown as a winged man because he wrote much about Jesus as the "son of man" - our Lord's human genealogy.  The wings tell us that Jesus is God also.

"Jesus said to him, You have said so.  But I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of  heaven."

Matt. 26:64

St Mark

St. Mark is shown as a winged lion.  He brings his Gospel by writing about St. John the Baptist as "the voice of one crying in the wilderness". Mk. 1:3

If you ever hear a lion crying out in the wilderness you will never forget it.  We won't forget the Gospel message of St. Mark either.

Jesus descended from the tribe of Judah -- and the lion was the symbol of this tribe.

Gen. 49:9

St. Luke

The ox with wings is a symbol of St. Luke.  You remember that oxen were sacrificed in the old testament.  Luke tells us of the priestly sacrifice that Christ brought for all the people.

The Ox reminds us of this.  The wings tell us that Jesus rose from the dead after His sacrifice and went to be with His Father in heaven.

St. John

The eagle is a symbol for St. John.  This is because the early Christians said that the Gospel of John "soared on eagle's wings from the beginning to the end."

John tells us much of the deity of Jesus "whose days are an eternal youth renewed like the eagle's."
